Business Challenges
Managing a fleet of vehicles is a complex task far beyond the scope of common database or spreadsheet applications; the customer requested a solution that could integrate collecting, storing and processing data on vehicles, fuel, spares, loans/leases, insurance, driver work hours and many other aspects of maintain a garage into a comprehensive scalable solution that could fit the needs of various categories of car owners – private individuals, rentals, car pools, cargo transport companies or taxi services to allow them reducing vehicle maintenance costs, increase performance and dependability, plan annual budgets easier and increase the resale value of the vehicles.
The customer desired a deep reworking of a product that has been used since late eighties for compatibility with actual environments, feature expansion, improvement of networking functions and a better choice of product versions for different market niches.
System Functionality
The system provides for entering, editing, storing data and creating/printing reports for every possibly accountable aspect of motor vehicle management. Vehicle purchases (sums, vendors, loans/leases), insurance and registration, fuel, oil, tire, parts and accessories, scheduled and completed maintenance, work time and payment of drivers are all integrated into a powerful reported system. The information on any vehicle or group of vehicles is at the user's fingertips.
Complex automated reports such as, for example, the total spending on gas for the entire fleet by period of time, broken down into cash and credit card payments help make management decisions to improve overall efficiency of owning the vehicle fleet. Alerts informing of due and overdue services help improve reliability of the vehicle services, and a solid trail of data fit for analysis aids in making the most of new vehicle purchases and selling used vehicles.
